Wearing All the Hats

Wearing All the Hats

I wear all the hats. Manager, owner, dishwasher, cook, and teacher. It’s true in my business, and it’s true in my family life. I’m the one who keeps the numbers straight, shoulders the risks, and handles the unglamorous day-to-day work that most people never see.

At the same time, I’m also the one passing on lessons learned to the next generation. I guide my wife’s craft business with a business mindset, letting her enjoy the creative side while I balance the books. I teach my daughter about the real world of business—things she’ll never find in a textbook.

Some days I’m a problem-solver, some days I’m a janitor, some days I’m a leader. But every day, I’m wearing all the hats. And I’ve come to see that maybe the most valuable hat of all is the one that passes on wisdom. Because tools wear out, supplies run out, but wisdom—if you’re lucky enough to get it—endures.
