Chaos Theory: Earned Nap After the Range (8/16/2025)
Fifteen students on the range today. Certificates signed. Smiles all around. Another successful session in the books. But the truth? I’m wiped out. Exhausted. Mentally and physically.
I fixed one AppSheet issue this morning — swapped out now()
for uniqueid()
so my date wouldn’t keep breaking things. Problem solved or so I thought. Except… fixing one thing showed me another error which wasn’t fixable instantly on the range. Suddenly the instructor drop-down stopped working right and started showing row IDs instead of names. Damn AppSheet. Fix one problem, create another. So, I was forced to run the class old school with pen on paper for student data collection rather than being able to use my preferred appsheet application on my phone.
It’s not that the system is broken. The app still functions sort of… Errors bother me. If the sheet feeds wrong information, the “holy grail” master sheet of all things Davey Defense goes sideways, and that cannot happen. Sorting, filing, student data—it all has to be correct every single time. That’s non-negotiable.
But right now? Forget it. I can’t even focus enough to clean my guns, let alone troubleshoot more AppSheet quirks. Today, I’ve earned a nap. And so that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
Welcome to the Chaos Theory. Thank you for watching.
