The Boss added a pair of new Walker lift axle trailers to our food grade trailer line up at the shop. We’ve had Polar lift axle trailers on our inedible side for a bit. I recall asking for a lift axle for my usual food grade runs. Unfortunately, at that time Walker was not manufacturing end unload lift axle trailers. The Boss prefers the Walker brand trailer for food grade work so I had to wait until they decided to come out with a lift axle. Yes. I’m excited about a shiny new tank.
What’s the story on this lifting axle? One less axle on the ground when empty means a reduction in maintenance expense. This is an automated lift system which basically means that the front axle raises or lowers based on cargo weight. It appears that the trigger point is approximately 10,000 pounds.
