Had some fun today casting some lead semi-wadcutters for my 45. My bullet of choice is a 200 grain micro groove tumble lube version cast from a Lee 2 cavity mold. This 1st pic shows my mold sitting atop the casting pot warming up to proper temp.
Once the mold reaches proper temp, (which is “hot”) I poured the mold full. Which means that there is a nice puddle on top of the sprue plate. (The sprue plate sits on top of the mold blocks that is used to cut the bottom of the bullets nice and flat.)
After a few seconds of letting the puddle on the sprue plate cool its time to “whack the plate and drop the freshly cast bullets. I use a wet cotton towel to drop my bullets onto.
Here’s what my finished bullets look like. Nice, neat and clean. Ready to lube and load.
