How To Connect To A WiFi Network

I just received a new BlackBerry 9650 Bold as a replacement for my 9630 Tour. I’d been having multiple issues with several replacements. Vzw was kind enough to offer an upgrade to the Bold. So, being new to having Wifi I checked on BlackBerry Answers to find out what I needed to do. The following is what I found when I entered “How to connect to a WiFi network.” Now I just need to get back home and try these “instructions for dumbies.” Or should I say “rookies?”

By default, new Wi-Fi® profiles appear at the bottom of your Wi-Fi profile list.

If your BlackBerry® device is associated with an email account that uses a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, your organization might prevent you from connecting to a Wi-Fi network.

1. On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon.
2. Click Set Up Wi-Fi Network.
3. Perform one of the following actions:

•Click Scan for Networks. Click a network.
•Click Manually Add Network. Type the network name. Click Add.

4. Complete the instructions on the screen.
5.When you are prompted to save a profile for the Wi-Fi network, click Next so that your device connects to the Wi-Fi network automatically next time.
6. On the Wi-Fi Setup Complete screen, perform any of the following actions:

•To change the order of yourWi-Fi profiles, click Prioritize Wi-Fi Profiles.
•To complete the Wi-Fi connection setup, click Finish.

To change your Wi-Fi network options later, on the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon. Click Wi-Fi Options.

About Wi-Fi diagnostic reports

Wi-Fi® diagnostic reports provide Wi-Fi configuration and connection information for your BlackBerry® device. If you cannot connect to a Wi-Fi network or access services such as email messaging, your wireless service provider or administrator might ask you to submit a Wi-Fi diagnostic report. Your wireless service provider or administrator can use the report to help you troubleshoot the problem
