Here are the four key points in firearms safety. These are simple enough for even the youngest shooters to comprehend. In fact I am of the opinion that until these four points are understood one shouldn’t be allowed on the shooting range.
4 Rules of Firearms Safety
1. All guns are always loaded. This means you must always act as if any firearm is loaded even if you just unloaded it and verified it’s in fact empty.
2. Don’t point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy. Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until the sights are on the intended target.
4. Be sure of your target AND what’s behind it.
